Yes. I’d like to be White Claw sponsored.
Besides my desire to find the latest and greatest online deals, I do enjoy time outdoors, staring at the landscapes in reflection. The farmland rolls into one another, the wildlife crunches on the fallen leaves, and the sky is always perfectly hung like the ornaments on a Christmas tree. “Woah, Scoobs, did you like, see that monster over there, man. Zoinks!” Let me crawl back to reality rather than sound like Shaggy after a good plate of munchies (iykyk). As the world encompasses me, I reflect on how I’ve encompassed it. Two ways: lavender and sandalwood.
Lavender
When you think of lavender, what do you think of? I think of the color; light, airy, friendly, sweet. Those attributes are tools to becoming the perfect Hallmark housewife but honestly, that combination describes my friends. You might think, “Becca, did you just say your friends are airy?” And to that, I say “yes, and me too.” We are light to be around. For the most part, we are go with the flow in any conversation unless Kayla and I crack too many cold ones and venture into politics. We are airy. Not to be confused with air-headed, but as Merriam- Webster would describe an airy room is “to be well lit.” We are well lit indeed. Joking aside, we are open. We are concerned with our future and the roles we play in society, and we share our struggles with one another and aid during the tough times. As generic as this next phrase sounds, we are friendly. I met a group of girls on my SDSU freshman floor and I still vibe with them 6 years later. Sure, we fight like sisters, because I love them like family. They are sweet to my spice. As the Powder Puff Girls taught, “sugar, spice and everything nice.” I’m hopeful that I retain an ounce of Morgan’s acceptance and unconditional love, a sliver of Bailey’s compassion, a whiff of Casie’s free spirit, a bowl of Lindsay’s responsibility, a cell of Kristin’s brain, a shot of Sam’s confidence, a step of Monica’s independence, a path of Alaine’s determination and a handful of Kayla’s generosity. Thanks to my friends who stick around like lotion leaving a little of their trace behind.
Sandalwood
So what is sandalwood? No clue. To be honest, I had to Google it. After a quick typey-type on the keyboard, I understood why I enjoy this scent so much. In addition to the sweet lavender, sandalwood exhibits a grainy, nature smell which last for decades in the forest. Grab my livable van, and I’ll be right there! Real sandalwood is expensive just like some of life’s most precious moments. How much would you pay for one more night with a lost loved one? How much to travel freely without the fear of coronavirus? Life’s moments are priceless. They are grainy and can be rough, but a positive scent can be found underneath the surface.
There really is no purpose to this blog. Mainly just a reason to talk about my friends and reminisce on an old Bath & Body scent to which I missed both dearly. I guess the takeaway is to be like lavender, light and friendly, but stay grounded to your roots like sandalwood.
Happy Saturday.
